A message from the Wellbeing Pilates founder, Charlie
Hi everyone! I am Charlie Carvalho l and I would love to share a little about myself and how Wellbeing Pilates came around!
I first discovered Pilates when I decided to take a visit to my aunts house in Spain, she was already a Pilates instructor and told me so much how pilates could benefit me and my life.
I was an insurance broker in London, working long hours sitting at a desk and then training in a gym with little to no stretching. I was always injured and in pain. I did no strength work and being hyper mobile I needed to increase my strength to support my joints to prevent further injuries.
I have been practicing Pilates since I was 17 yrs old, then when I trained as a Pilates teacher, I was the youngest teacher to qualify in the Uk. I've been so grateful to work alongside some of the most incredible teachers and mentors in the world who have helped me grow not only as a teacher but as a person. They taught me to love, respect and care for my body and learn the importance of a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
The knowledge I have gained through my time travelling as a Pilates teacher; working in the top studio's in Hong Kong and Barbados. along side some inspirational teachers. This gave me an even greater passion to pass onto others and help them to discover how much Pilates can help and impact your life for the good.
Pilates is one of the most transformative practices that you can do for your body and helps you to create sustainable and lasting change both physically and mentally.
It's important to focus on your technique and alignment, connecting into your body and you'll really watch these changes really take effect!
I find this deep concentration gives pilates a sense of mindfulness, as you have to focus on how you are moving and the body is reacting synchronising breath to movement gives even the toughest of sessions a lightness to them.
Pilates is suitable for everyone and from working with full rehab clients learning to walk, keeping clients from having major surgery by building strength. children, adults and professional athletes and dancers; it really allows you to open your eyes to how everyone can benefit and take what they need from a session to make it right for them - its really the most inclusive form of exercise there is today!
After all the man himself Joseph Pilates, never taught two of his clients the same!
After attending a Wellbeing Pilates classes you will feel happier, relaxed, stronger, longer and leaner but also feel relief of physical tension and mental stress. I want my clients to finish a session and feel reenergised, confident and ready for anything!
Whether you want to feel happier, stronger, taller or sexier, Then Wellbeing Pilates classes are for you!
I can't wait to see you on the mat and what you achieve!
Love to you all my #wellbeingwarriors
